Monkayo College of Arts, Sciences and Technology is a local college operated by the Local Government Unit of Monkayo. It was founded on the belief that location or financial circumstance should never limit a learner's potential.
Through accessible instruction, relevant research, and sustainable extension programs, MonCAST prepares graduates to lead with competence, integrity, compassion, and a strong commitment to public service.

From its establishment in 2008 to its continuing academic growth, MonCAST has expanded opportunity, strengthened public higher education, and served the people of Monkayo and beyond.
MonCAST is established
Monkayo College of Arts, Sciences and Technology came into being through Municipal Ordinance No. 21, authored by then Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Remigio T. Saldua and enacted on August 19, 2008 during the administration of Mayor Manuel B. Brillantes, Jr.
CHED permits and the first school year
MonCAST became the first LGU-owned and operated local college in the former Compostela Valley Province, now Davao de Oro, to receive a Permit to Operate from CHED. Its first school year opened on June 14, 2009 with 142 students in BEEd, BSEd-English, and BSBA.
Governance and early distinction
The inaugural Board of Trustees held its first meeting on May 20, 2009. Within its first year, MonCAST became overall champion in Monkayo's Literary, Musical and Arts Competition and joined APSCUR-RAHEI and the first CHED Academic, Sports and Cultural Festival.
A permanent home begins
The college completed its first five-classroom building on June 15, 2010. The Administrative Office and library transferred to the new building that September, while additional faculty strengthened the growing academic community.
Enrollment, people, and facilities grow
Enrollment reached 414 students in the first semester of S.Y. 2010-2011. Regular personnel were appointed in 2011, and a two-storey laboratory building - later named the JBB Building - was completed in June 2012 with speech, computer, and science laboratories.
Government recognition
After evaluation by the Regional Quality Assurance Team, CHED granted Government Recognition Nos. 26, 27, and 28, Series of 2012, for the BSEd, BEEd, and BSBA programs.
First graduates and broader programs
MonCAST celebrated its first batch of professionals on April 30, 2013. It later introduced BSBA majors in Financial Management and Human Resource Management, opened BSEd major in Social Studies, and pursued Level I accreditation for key programs.
Agriculture, access, and national results
The Bachelor of Agricultural Technology program opened in 2017. MonCAST also expanded its library and audiovisual facilities, became one of the leading UniFAST beneficiaries under Republic Act No. 10931, and ranked among the top-performing schools in the 2019 Licensure Examination for Teachers.
Program compliance and new leadership
CHED granted the Certificate of Program Compliance for the Bachelor of Agricultural Technology program through Regional Office Order No. 005, Series of 2021. In the same year, Dr. Gary P. Lagatiera was appointed as MonCAST's first college president.
A renewed path forward
Following the national elections, the Board of Trustees welcomed new leadership. CHED also granted MonCAST an initial permit to offer the first- and second-year levels of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, transitioning from BAT under CMO No. 23, Series of 2021.

Baybayin Text
Baybayin honors the Filipino writing system and the college’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage. The inscription on the torch transcribes the name of the college.
Year 2008
